How EVO Works: From First Conversation to Lasting Results
When you engage in EVO, you’re not signing up for a report. You’re signing up for a structured, multi-phase transformation — one that begins with a comprehensive diagnostic and ends only when the results are measurable and durable. Here’s what the journey looks like.
Step 1 — The Discovery Conversation
Before any formal engagement begins, we have a candid conversation about where your business stands, what’s not working, and what you’d like it to look like in three to five years. There’s no pitch and no pressure. The goal is mutual fit — making sure EVO is the right program for your situation and your timeline.
Step 2 — Phase 1: Assess, Diagnose & Design
Once we’re aligned, we begin the formal EVO Assessment — a deep diagnostic across eight areas of your business: Finance, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Management, Technology/IT, Human Resources, and Legal/Governance.
We’re not running checklists. We’re looking for the specific places where value is being left on the table — and the quiet risks that could undermine everything you’ve built. This involves working directly with you and your key team members.
From the assessment, we build your Value Optimization Plan: a prioritized roadmap that assigns each initiative a projected impact on profitability, enterprise value, or both. Every recommendation is specific to your business, your goals, and your timeline.
Step 3 — Phase 2: Execute, Implement & Optimize
This is the phase that separates EVO from everything else. Most advisory engagements end when the plan is delivered. We’re just getting started.
Over 12 to 36 months, a dedicated Sabre advisor works alongside your leadership team to execute the plan — one initiative at a time. The cadence:
- Monthly Strategic Sessions — Review progress, address obstacles, make decisions, and keep momentum.
- Quarterly Planning Reviews — Step back to assess the broader trajectory, refine priorities, and measure movement against your Value Optimization Plan.
- Ongoing Execution Support — Between sessions, your advisor remains accessible for real-time input, problem-solving, and accountability.
How Progress Is Measured
We set clear metrics at the outset and track them throughout. Progress is measured against your Value Optimization Plan — not vague impressions of how things are going. That includes financial metrics (EBITDA, cash flow, margin), operational metrics (process efficiency, cycle time, capacity), and organizational metrics (leadership independence, team accountability, owner reliance).
What the Typical Arc Looks Like
No two businesses are identical, but EVO engagements tend to follow a recognizable pattern:
- Early months: Foundational work — financial clarity, reporting infrastructure, and quick-win improvements that build organizational confidence and momentum.
- Mid-engagement: Deeper operational and organizational change — leadership development, process redesign, pricing and margin work, systems integration.
- Later stage: Sustainable results — the business runs with less owner dependency, better financial visibility, and a clear value story for whatever comes next.
