Your Financials Tell You Where You Are. Your Forecasts Target Where You Want to Be. But Operations Determine Whether You Get There.
Many businesses hit a point where the targets are clear but performance lags. The reports are accurate and the numbers are there — yet margins trail, the team underperforms, systems run on workarounds, and the owner is still holding everything together.
That’s not a financial problem. It’s an operational one — and fixing it takes a different kind of expertise and hands-on engagement.
Sabre’s Operational Consulting practice works inside the business, where the financial function and operations collide. We don’t hand you a fifty-page playbook and leave. Our senior advisors work alongside your team to lift margins, tighten systems, strengthen leadership, and build a company that can run and grow without you holding it together.
“Strong financials and a clear strategic plan are essential — but they only create value when the operations underneath them are built to execute.”
What Is Operations Consulting?
These are hands-on, execution-focused engagements. We identify what’s working, diagnose what isn’t, and drive the changes that make a measurable difference — function by function, until they’re truly ingrained. This isn’t an assessment that ends with a report and well-wishes; we stay with your team for the hard work of making the changes real.
The scope is dictated by your business, not a generic checklist. Sales structure, pricing, reporting, hiring, technology, the handoffs between departments — we go wherever the biggest opportunity is, and bring the right expertise to each, because operational improvement doesn’t respect departmental lines.

What This Looks Like in Practice
Industrial Services Company — $1.8M Found in a Single Bid Review
A $15M industrial services company had strong technical capability but inconsistent pricing, with an owner managing nearly every detail personally. We built job-level profitability and margin tracking, upgraded financial systems and reporting, revealed profit drivers by client type, recruited a management team, and added sales training and pricing tools.
One bid review alone surfaced $1.8M in underpriced work. Annual earnings rose from $3.5M to $5.5M — a 57% increase — and the company now runs with an independent management team and real financial visibility.
Transportation Company — 15% Gross Margin Improvement
A $15M regional trucking company believed its largest customer — nearly half of revenue — was its lifeline. A full profitability analysis showed the opposite: heavy service demands, discounted rates, and admin load had eroded that account’s margin to almost nothing. The business was profitable in spite of its biggest customer, not because of it.
Armed with data instead of intuition, leadership renegotiated from a position of strength and shifted resources toward higher-margin accounts. Within twelve months, gross margins rose roughly 15%, customer concentration fell below 30% of revenue, and annual earnings grew $600–800K.
Situations We Get Called Into
- “We’re generating revenue, but I know we’re leaving profitability on the table somewhere in our operations.”
- “We’ve grown — and the team, the systems, and the processes haven’t kept up.”
- “We have good people but no real accountability structure. Everyone is busy and the business isn’t moving forward.”
- “Our HR and payroll functions are disorganized. We need real systems before we can scale.”
- “I want a business that could run without me. Right now, it couldn’t.”
Senior Advisors Who Have Actually Done the Work
Engagements are led by Sabre’s most senior professionals — advisors who have run operations, built management teams, and led change from inside a business, not consultants who hand you a framework on the way out the door. We bring in specialists where the work requires it — operations, HR, technology, AI, sales — so the expertise matches the size of the problem.
A note on EVO
Operations Consulting can be a targeted, standalone engagement — for many clients, it is the whole engagement. Some later migrate to a full Enterprise Value Optimization program, Sabre’s structured 12-to-36-month process for building enterprise value ahead of a sale or other management transition.
